Our towns and cities are laid out in geometric patterns to demarcate ownership, measured by metes and bounds, or lots and blocks. The city, in concept and its grid-like form, is often considered in terms of its iconic, unchanging quality.

The word “city” tends to evoke a static image – of a skyline, rising up from a horizontal plane. In reality, the city is an ever-changing organism, and this work plays with the notion of the built environment, and how it may morph or change over time.

Each component is part of a larger puzzle or game where strategic moves may be contemplated or made, and will ultimately affect the whole
